This route takes you along the main ring of Kerry
road.
The First 4 km is flat until you pass Muckross House
and gardens.
After this there is a steady climb up to Ladies
View and on to Molls Gap.
At Molls gap take time to catch your breath and
take in the views of the lakes of Killarney.From
Molls gap there is a decent and some climbs into
Kenmare Bay.
Distance & Route Info:
The Route is 34km but with some steep climbs.

The
first 14 km is relatively flat as you cycle along
the coast of Kenmare Bay.
After this there are some steep Climbs and Decents.
There is a longer option if you take the Healy Pass.This
is the highest point on the Beara Peninsula.If the
weather is good we would recommend that you take this
option. However you have the option to cycle this
pass later in the Tour on the Leg from Glengarriff
to Kenmare. You can choose which day if any you wish
to Tackle the Healy Pass.

You have rest day in Castletownbere.
There is a circular route around the tip of the Beara
Peninsula.This takes you through Cahermore to Garnish
Point then Allihies on to Cods Head and back to Castletownbere.You
also have the option of visiting Bear Island.

One of the largest white fishing ports in Ireland.
Visit Bere Island.

This Route takes you the coastal road all the way
to Glengarriff with the views of Bantry Bay.
Distance & Route Info:
It is approx. 36 km with some climbs.

This is one of the only remaining areas that has original
oak forest.
Visit the gardens at Garnish Island.

You have two options on todays cycle.
Route 1:
The direct road is 27 km long.
There is a steady climb from kenmare all the way to
the Cahas Pass and up to Turners Rock Tunnel when
you pass through the tunnel it is down hill into Kenmare.
Route 2:
If you have not cycled the Healy Pass on your way
to Castletownbere you have the option of taking
this route.
From Glengarriff you head back on the Beara Road
as far as Adrigole.From Here you take a right.This
road cuts through the Beara Peninsula and the Caha
Mountains..There is a very Steep Climb to the top
of the Healy Pass.There are spectacular views from
the top.
From Here there is a steep decent to Larragh.From
Here you follow the road along Kenmare Bay into
Kenmare.

From
the Main square in Kenmare follow the signs to Killarney.
At Avoca Hand Weavers please check your brakes as
there is 20km downhill cycle into Killarney. This
cycle is one of the easiest cycles on the trip with
wonderful views of the Lakes of Killarney. Stay on
the Main road all the way into Killarney. This ride
is approximately 32km.This is the same route as first
day except in reverse
Again you have the option of taking a more challenging
route Through Black Valley and on to the Gap of Dunloe.
This option is only recommended if the weather is
good as it is quiet easy to get lost in the Black
Valley
