On day seven we have mapped out two different cycling routes.
The Days Route:
There is an option of 2 routes for you to take:
Route1:
This is a challenging circular route that takes you into the heart of the Cooley Mountains .
This route takes you inland up the Cooley Mountains. There is a steep climb for approx. 10km up to the point known as the “Long Woman’s Grave”
We then descend for approx. 8 km.
From Here there is a steed climb up to Flagstaff Viewing Point.
At Flagstaff there are spectacular views of both Carlingford Lough and The Mountains of Mourne which are on the opposite side of Carlingford Lough. From Here we descend to Omeath a town which is right on the boarder between North of Ireland and South of Ireland. From Omeath we then cycle along the coast back to Carlingford.
Route 2:
This route brings you through the spectacular views to be enjoyed from the Cooley Mountains. This cycle has less climbs than route 1 and is also shorter.
